Story of the Stone

Fish King loves painting fish. He used to paint tigers when he was little; however, his mother thought it was a problem since in Cantonese, “tiger” sounded similar to “bitterness”. As a result, Fish King stopped painting tigers and started to paint fish instead. He’s been working on the subject since the age of nine; the fish he presents is of all lively forms; that’s how he got the acclaim of “Fish King”.

His good friend, Hong Kong movie star Teddy Robin was invited to put a traditional Chinese character “happiness” on the stone.

Artist Profile

Fish King used to work as the artistic director of the television department in Radio Television Hong Kong. He is especially good at painting carp. In his artistic career of 30 years, he had designed a great number of opening themes for different TV programs, the most well-known ones being “Below the Lion Rock Series” and “Hong Kong Connection”…

Fish King has been focusing on artistic creation since retirement: painting and calligraphy; sometimes he’d organize painting workshops, shoot photos for friends, and take part in a number of solo and joint exhibitions. He always keeps himself busy.
